My sense
Finding my purpose has made many things, if not everything, easier for me. A few years ago, I spent a weekend immersing myself in Robert Dilt’s “logical levels of change”. What is at the top, what makes everything else easy, is the meaning, the vision.
My meaning comes to us like a thunderbolt:
Integration
Now the common thread in my life suddenly appears to me. I’m always looking for as many intersections as possible.
Either or? – I don’t always like that. – Both and!
Professionally, the integration of business and IT, the integration of data from different sources, the integration of new colleagues into the project, etc.
In his private life, the integration of work and family as a freelancer, the integration of the convinced engineer and the spiritual self-discoverer of extraordinary experiences.
My values
For me, freedom means being able to address everything freely, to decide freely about my actions and my health
For me, openness means revealing what I think, how I feel about something and what I want to achieve and what I won’t do
For me, authenticity means expressing how I’m feeling at the moment. When I’m happy and when I’m unhappy. And the whole thing in a good consciousness, so not carried away by, but aware that …
Passion for people
(Agile leadership)
(“developing” helps immensely)
Passion for Data Vault 2.0
(intelligent data management)
(one of eight worldwide)
With my talents, I help you to create and apply integrative concepts and models. My open, authentic demeanor and my strength as a proactive self-starter help me to do this.
I am motivated to work independently and effectively. I love it when we work together to create individual solutions that go beyond the standard and the familiar. To do this, we create a shared, detailed understanding of the situation and the options. From this we develop an increasingly sharper goal together along the way.
In me you will find a partner who is analytical, consistent and sociable and who is able to use subconscious resources with intuitive decision-making.
Career
The following points provide a rough overview. If you want to read details & personal information, just click on it. You will find a small standard CV in the last point.
After many project plans written in detail and changed again and again with a lot of effort, I lose faith in them. Larger projects take many months or even a few years. While we are following the plan, the environment, the requirements or the regulatory provisions change.
In the agile mindset and its approaches, I find that everyone involved enjoys their work more and gets better, faster results. And I often find agile processes with my customers in a classic attitude of detailed planning and wanting to know exactly what is going on. This is where the image of the “agile scout” develops in me. I look for agile potential and leverage it. Together with my customers, I tread an unknown path that more and more people are following. In my approach, I also describe myself as an arsonist. Where there is agile potential, I promote it. These are people from all areas of the company and all hierarchical levels. If the company so wishes, I transform the company in its speed and manner through these “small fires” and the resulting “wildfire”.
During this phase, I also continued the NLP training I had started in 2007 and completed the Master and Coach/Trainer. With the help of NLP, I improve my own leadership and support transformation processes in my environment – both entrepreneurial and personal.
First as a participant and now as a coach, I spend four weeks every spring in Bahia, Brazil on a Vision Quest. In a small fishing village, far away from the nearest town, I accompany my fellow travelers in a time without TV, internet and telephone. There we come to rest and find our way back to our innermost essence. I, for example, am the outpost. I accompany participants on tours, some lasting several days, along the beach, through the hinterland and into the rainforest in the Pataxo Indian territory. In this experience, which is very unusual for us, we learn to trust our bodies again and to feel at home in nature, rediscovering our very individual inner nature in the process.
I go to secondary school and start playing basketball in the club and getting involved as an altar boy in the church. The church’s youth work had a big impact on me. In groups and committees, I learn leadership, negotiation, committee work and am always looking for opportunities to shape things.
I discovered my love of physics and mathematics at secondary school. In grades 9 and 10, I was allowed to choose physics as my main subject and had a gifted teacher who laid the foundations for me, which I still rave about today – my Mr. Dietrich.
As my talent for foreign languages still has potential, I decide against grammar school and opt for a profession: telecommunications electronics technician. Thanks to my luck and my skills, I was able to work in the most exciting areas for me: Systems for emergency calls, burglary, fire and small and medium-sized telephone systems. I enjoy understanding all of this so much that I went to a technical college to study communications engineering afterwards.
At the beginning of the 90s, many engineers leave university without any job prospects. After my fast intermediate diploma, I put my focus on work. At MAKU Informationstechnik GmbH in Essen, I quickly progressed from student assistant in production to video workshop and testing to quality manager. In addition to the practical aspects of the engineering profession, I also learn a lot about economics and processes in a medium-sized company with development, production, service and sales of products for security in banks.
In my free time, I am active as a leader of two levels in the DPSG – Scouts and Rovers. I also represent the association and the youth on parish committees and continue to develop as deputy chairman of the parish council. As a scout tribe of 40-60 members, we plan parish festivals and large camps. Another “playground” for gaining project experience.
A full-time job, involvement in youth work and continuing my studies “on the side” do not allow me to complete my degree in the form of a thesis once I have finished all my exams. At 30, it’s now time for a sabbatical. In a year’s time, I will finish my studies with my thesis, we will move and expand my wife’s practice and our son will be born, whose first years I will be able to experience.
… in Mülheim an der Ruhr. That’s where I spent my childhood and youth. Especially in the forest behind the house, where I build booths, collect tadpoles and roam around with the neighborhood kids.

What projects has Volker worked on?
I have now worked on projects for over 30 years. More has come together than I can describe in a short paragraph. That’s why you’ll find a link to a page with a list of (almost) all my projects below.
What I learned very early on: The really crucial aspect is communication. Especially in software projects. Software is the tool of the magician of the 20th and 21st century. Software is like magic, it can realize anything we can imagine. We just have to learn to talk to each other so that we know clearly what we can expect from each other.
What is the logo all about?
In 2003, the three of us sit together after our time at Oracle Consulting and start our freelance phase. But there are plenty of freelancers, so what do we do differently? We create our own corporate design!
But as a newly self-employed person, the ruble is not so loose. So Joan put up a notice (that’s how it was done back then 😉 ) on the notice board of the communication designers at the University of Essen: “Designer wanted for logo creation and co!”
That’s how we came across the fabulous and likeable Radek(www.radekal.de). We sit with him in Essen’s cafés and pubs and in the Unperfekthaus and work on the logo, font and letterhead.
The resulting logo is the labyrinth, the quote from Candolini is the brainchild of Judith Tüch(ebene-n.de).
We go into our customers’ projects. Projects are always confusing and marked by small and large aberrations. We consciously and willingly enter this labyrinth with our customers. We follow the paths, recognize wrong turns and start again in the right place. And with us, you can always get out of the labyrinth.
In 2018, the business card, lettering and photos will be refreshed. I was inspired and supported by Sven Keuntje(www.skeuntje.de) and Oliver Vosshage(www.ov-pics.com) in my second home in Hanover.
